Dahlia Lagos is a professional songwriter, producer, singer, and composer with more than fifteen years of experience teaching piano and voice. She began formal piano study at age seven at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division under the acclaimed pianist Elena Leonova, Director of the New York Piano Society. She later attended Berklee College of Music, earning a degree in Songwriting with piano as her principal instrument.
Dahlia still works as a musician, and her students benefit from it. Her lessons pair a solid foundation in technique, theory, sight-reading, and classical repertoire with contemporary music, songwriting, and voice. Each lesson is shaped around the student's interests and abilities. A student might study Tchaikovsky, learn a favorite pop song, prepare for a school performance, or start writing a song of their own.
Dahlia knows from her own training how much a teacher can shape a young musician, and she takes that responsibility seriously. She gets to know each student as a person, and her lessons are demanding without being discouraging. When something gets hard, she stays patient and helps students work through the frustration rather than around it. Most discover they're capable of more than they thought. One student describes her simply: “Amazing. Flexible. Uplifting and supportive.”
Her students tend to stay for years, growing from young beginners into independent musicians. One began lessons with her at seven and is now preparing to attend Columbia University; another is heading to Stanford University. She hopes each of them keeps playing long after their lessons end.

Alongside her professional career, Dahlia keeps a small, referral-based studio. She teaches because she loves it, and she limits her roster so every student and family gets her full attention — which means she doesn't take on every child who's referred to her. Recitals aren't required, so families are free to choose performance opportunities that feel meaningful and comfortable for their child.
